Book Box Ormeau has been closed due to COVID since March 2020. At last Fun Things for Toddlers have an update on the reopening of this amazing Gold Coast Libraries local service!
Fletcher and Harper have been attending Book Box Ormeau since they were babies. I even remember taking Harper when she was only 1 week old. Friday mornings have not been the same since Book Box closed its doors – we loved going to Story Time and collecting our weekly fix of books.
I have been keeping an eye out for any announcement on when Book Box would return and I finally got the answer we have been looking for!
Book Box Ormeau is Back!!!
Gold Coast Libraries is delighted to share the good news that Book Box Early Years Library at Ormeau is reopening on Monday, 14 June 2021!
Due to COVID-19 requirements, the way Book Box operates has changed. A limit of 25 customers at any time is now in place, which includes all children and babies. You can make use of the Ormeau Community Centre lobby, grassed area or playground while waiting to enter Book Box.
The Book Box team is sure they can still create a great environment for you and your children to enjoy, even with these necessary changes in place.
Sadly, they are not yet able to resume our Storytime program, due to capacity limits. However, all other Gold Coast Libraries are now operating a variety of children’s programs. Bookings are required and can be made by visiting cityofgoldcoast.com.au/librarieskids.
While visiting Book Box, you can also return items borrowed from any Gold Coast library via the returns chute located within the foyer of the Ormeau Community Centre. When arriving at Book Box, you will need to check in using the QLD Government Check In Qld app.
Book Box will be open Monday to Friday from 9am-12pm.

What is Book Box Ormeau
Book Box is Gold Coast Libraries‘ early years lending library and play-based learning space, based at the Ormeau Community Centre. It offers fun for your little one, and a great opportunity to support your child’s language development and curiosity for learning.
Reading, playing and talking to your child every day from birth helps your child’s brain develop. It’s a good way to spend time together and it helps to build strong foundations for future language and learning skills.
Book Box opened in 2017 and is proudly funded and supported by the Queensland Government and the State Library of Queensland as a part of their First 5 Forever program.
