TROPIC ARCADIA is HOTA’s Children’s Gallery newest exhibition and it is an unexpected, new travel destination for families! Tongan-Polynesian artist Samuel Tupou has created a curious, pop-up island for you to explore. Discover his colourful patterns inspired by tapa (bark cloth) designs set amongst a surreal, tropical landscape that is part memory, part imagination, part arcade game.
Visit HOTA’s Children’s Gallery and collect your map to start your expedition. There is so much to do and discover as you journey throughout TROPIC ARCADIA. Through the layered art of Samuel Tupou, families will be transported into a multi-dimensional realm of fun and adventure.

With so much happening over summer, Gold Coast Libraries’ Family Time sessions (Baby Rhyme Time, Toddler Time and Storytime) will be taking a brief break from Saturday 10 December 2022, then recommencing on Monday 23 January 2023.

Botanic Gardens Butterfly Glider Tour

Have you ever wanted to find out why butterflies matter? Come join us for a Butterfly Tour Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens on board the Garden Glider and learn which plants provide nectar and food for nature’s winged miracles.
Tour cost is $5 per person, bookings are ESSENTIAL so get in fast the Garden Glider can only carry a maximum of 6 passengers on each tour.
For the safety of all passengers Mobility Aids cannot be taken on the Glider, however it is possible to leave them at the Sensory Garden Pavilion, where they will be safely secured until your return. Unfortunately for safety reasons person/s under 1.5 metres are not permitted on the Glider.

Be enchanted by The Sleeping Beauty, an interactive Storytime Ballet experience for children aged three years and older.
Telling the story of a beautiful princess who must sleep for 100 years until woken by true love’s kiss, The Sleeping Beauty dazzles with glittering tutus and most-loved characters, set to Tchaikovsky’s hum-along score.
Running for under an hour, this narrated version of The Sleeping Beauty will have children dancing in their seats…and all the way home. Don’t forget to dress up in your favourite ballet-inspired outfit!
Tickets $61 plus transaction fee $6.90. Children 18 months and under are admitted at no cost, and are to sit on the lap of accompanying adult. Suitable for all ages.

Pat Malone’s Magic Garden is a fun-fuelled exploration of creativity for families. Fusing Physical Theatre, Circus and Dance with a good old fashioned ‘Aussie yarn’ this is a colourful and iconic piece about the nature of reality and the power of imagination.
Follow Pat Malone, a Mythical Creature Researcher, on a very unique journey, as he shares his research into Autonomous Imaginary Species, or A.I.S. These are creatures that begin in the imagination, and then become real, physical creatures that have a life all of their own! Now, it might sound crazy and I bet you’re wondering how it’s possible… But you have to believe!
Originally commissioned by Bleach Festival, this show has been adored by children and adults, and will entertain, delight and move audiences, as they uncover a world full of hidden magic. Suitable for all ages
