What is Book Box Ormeau
Book Box is a great little local library that is designed especially with your toddler in mind. It offers fun for your little one, and a great opportunity to support your child’s language development and curiosity for learning.
Reading, playing and talking to your child every day from birth helps your child’s brain develop. It’s a good way to spend time together and it helps to build strong foundations for future language and learning skills.
Book Box opened in 2017 and is proudly funded and supported by the Queensland Government and the State Library of Queensland as a part of their First 5 Forever program.
Book Box is open Monday to Friday from 9am-12pm.
Storytime at Book Box
Storytime is held at Book Box Library every Wednesday at 10 am through the school term. Bookings are essential.
What We Love About Book Box
Fletcher and Harper have been attending Book Box Ormeau since they were babies. I even remember taking Harper when she was only 1 week old.
We would visit on a weekly basis and spend at least an hour, browsing the books, playing and enjoying the relaxed laid back environment built for small kids.
Book Box was always a good place to visit to catch up with other local Mum’s and their small children and the Book Box staff are super welcoming, friendly, and helpful.
We would always leave with a big bag of borrowed books to read before bedtime for the coming week.
Now that I’m back to work and Fletcher and Harper are in Kindy most of the week, we don’t visit quite so often but will often try and stop by to borrow some books to add to our book time reading. You can also return items borrowed from any Gold Coast library via the returns chute located within the foyer of the Ormeau Community Centre. They also have convenient book lending vending machine in the Community Centre Foyer.
